SureRedact — Software Licence

Version 0.1 (draft) · Pending legal review

This page mirrors the LICENSE file inside every SureRedact build (visible in the app under About → Licence). It is a summary of the licence; the controlling document is the SureMatters Terms of Service.

Licensing posture

SureRedact is proprietary software. It is not open source.

SureRedact Free is made available free of charge to download and use, but it is not placed in the public domain and is not licensed under any open-source or OSI-approved licence (it is, in particular, NOT MIT-licensed, despite any historical metadata to the contrary).

What you may do

Your right to install and use SureRedact — Free or paid — is granted solely under, and is subject to, the SureMatters Terms of Service, which are the canonical and controlling licence grant.

In summary, and without limiting those Terms, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use the software on supported operating systems.

What you may not do

Except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law or by the Terms of Service, you may not:

The Terms of Service prevail over this summary in the event of any conflict.

Warranty disclaimer

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. See the Terms of Service for the warranty, liability, and indemnity provisions that apply.

Third-party components

Third-party components bundled with the desktop application are licensed separately by their respective authors; their licences and notices are set out in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md document that accompanies every distributed build.

Reconciliation with the v1.0 Terms of Service

This page and the LICENSE file in the SureRedact bundle are v0.1, pending legal review. The controlling Terms of Service are similarly published as v0.1 carrying a "pending legal review; v1.0 lands by end of September 2026" marker, consistent with the launch trust-document posture. This page will be reconciled with the final legally-reviewed Terms before that date.
