How the calculation works
- Annual internal cost = internal seats × hours / year × hourly rate. The staff time spent on disclosure preparation.
- Annual DIY cost = current external redaction spend + annual internal cost. What you spend today.
- Three-year DIY cost = annual DIY × 3.
- Three-year bundle cost = bundle annual cost × 3. Assumes you replace external-solicitor spend and reduce internal time substantially.
- Three-year savings = three-year DIY − three-year bundle.
- Break-even = how many months of saving it takes to cover the bundle annual cost.
What the calculator assumes
The calculator assumes the tooling subscription replaces your external-solicitor redaction spend and reduces internal time on disclosure preparation. In practice the picture is rarely either-or: some matters still benefit from external-solicitor review, especially safeguarding or complaints disclosures with legal sensitivity. If your current external spend includes solicitor work that wouldn’t move to in-house tooling (e.g. a solicitor reviewing the disclosure before it ships rather than redacting it), reduce the “current external spend” figure to the redaction-only portion for a more accurate comparison.
